Giants’ Saquon Barkley, Daniel Jones among leaders in NFL jersey sales

The New York Giants aren’t selling as much merchandise as they used to. Winning just 12 games over three seasons will do that to a franchise.

But in the recent list of NFLPA Top 50 Player Sales, the Giants placed two players — their most recent first round draft picks, running back Saquon Barkley and quarterback Daniel Jones.

Barkley is ranked No. 11 on the list and Jones is 28th. This encompasses the sale of all player merchandise, not just jerseys:

The NFLPA Top 50 Player Sales List is the only verified ranking of all officially licensed, NFL player-branded merchandise sold from online and traditional retail outlets as reported by over 70 NFLPA licensees such as Fanatics, Outerstuff, Nike, Fathead, FOCO, Wincraft and Funko. Licensed product categories included trading cards, men’s, women’s and youth game jerseys, T-shirts and hoodies, backpacks, wall decals, pennants, collectible figurines, matted and framed photos, bobbleheads, plush, drinkware, pet products, and many more.

Mainly, these rankings are buoyed by jersey sales.

The Giants have the fourth overall pick in this year’s NFL Draft, but if that player is an offensive lineman, he’s unlikely to crack this list. If they select Clemson linebacker Isaiah Simmons in the first round, you can expect his jersey to take off like Barkley’s No. 26 and Jones’ No. 8.

What number Simmons would wear is still up in the air. He won’t be wearing No. 11, the number he wore at Clemson.
