Giants’ Sam Beal remains sidelined as Deandre Baker returns to work

The New York Giants returned to the field for the start of Week 5 of training camp on Monday, and when it came to injury news, they were met with a mixed bag.

The good news is that rookie cornerback Deandre Baker, who survived an ACL scare, returned to individual drills a week after going down with injury. Long-snapper Zak DeOssie (toe) also returned in full.

Unfortunately, that was it for the positive news.

On the other side of the injury spectrum, cornerback Sam Beal (hamstring) remained out and has now fallen so far behind it’s difficult to envision him factoring in at the beginning of the season.

In addition to Beal, cornerback Antonio Hamilton (groin), linebacker Tae Davis (unknown), wide receiver Golden Tate (concussion), offensive lineman George Asafo-Adjei (concussion) and safety Michael Thomas (excused for NFLPA business) were also not practicing.

Linebacker Alec Ogletree (calf) was limited, while defensive tackle Dalvin Tomlinson, who was excused from practice on Sunday, returned to the field.
