Giants’ Sam Beal, Darius Slayton not practicing on final day of camp

The New York Giants took the field for the final practice of training camp on Tuesday, and although they were treating it more like a glorified walkthrough, there was a lengthy list of inactive players.

In addition to the familiar faces of offensive linemen George Asafo-Adjei (concussion) and Chad Wheeler (back), tight end Garrett Dickerson (quad), running back Rod Smith (adductor), cornerbacks Sam Beal (hamstring) and Antonio Hamilton (groin) and safety Kenny Ladler (hamstring), wide receiver Darius Slayton (hamstring) once again found himself on the sideline.

Left tackle Nate Solder, who has been given sporadic days off this summer, was also not seen on the field.

It’s unlikely that any of the players missing practice on Tuesday will play in the preseason finale against the New England Patriots on Thursday night, leaving several with serious questions about their status on the 53-man roster.

With final cuts expected on Saturday, time has officially run out for the likes of Beal and Asafo-Adjei, who could very well be headed to injured reserve.
