Giants-Redskins Week 4: Offense, defense and special teams snap counts

The New York Giants defense came alive in Week 4 at MetLife Stadium, shutting down the Washington Redskins en route to a 24-3 victory, and shutting the mouth of several former players.

Wait, you mean to tell me the shellacking didn’t quiet Landon Collins or Ereck Flowers? Well, I stand corrected.

Nonetheless, the Giants came away with a big W to get back to .500, so let’s see who took the snaps to get there…

Offensive snaps: 78
Defensive snaps: 51
Special teams snaps: 20

Offensively, there’s little that stands out beyond the running back split between Wayne Gallman and rookie Jon Hilliman. The latter got more snaps than many likely anticipated.

Defensively, it’s nice to see Dexter Lawrence get a little boost in field time, but it’s curious why Markus Golden, the team’s best pass rusher, isn’t seeing more snaps. Ditto B.J. Hill, who was on the field for less than 50% of the time on Sunday.

Finally, on specials, there’s that “1” next to Jabrill Pepper’s name. That came after two muffed punts courtesy of TJ Jones, but latest just a one-and-done. It’ll be interesting to see what, if anything, the Giants have to say about the future of the punt return position this coming week.
