NEW YORK — Golden Tate wore a red scout team pinnie at Friday's practice and didn't run early routes with the full offense for a second straight day.
It's possible Tate will be scratched entirely from Sunday's game at Washington. Coach Joe Judge wouldn't make any pre-practice announcements on Tate's game status.
"We still have an entire day of practice to go through, so I'll evaluate everything and make decisions on the back end of what we're going to do through the weekend," Judge said of Tate. "I'm gonna discuss a lot of possibilities today after practice."
Tate wore a No. 17 scout team pinnie on Friday, pretending to be Washington top wideout Terry McLaurin in the scout team offense's work against the Giants' first-team defense.
Tate yelled "throw me the damn ball" at the Giants' sideline after his first catch on Monday night against the Buccaneers, and he screamed "throw me the ball" into ESPN's end zone camera after his second catch for a TD.
Tate's wife Elise also ranted on Instagram Monday night that Tate's lack of usage in the offense was affecting his stats. She said Tate was open often but not receiving the ball.
Judge spoke "at length" with Tate, 32, on Tuesday, kept him away from Wednesday's walkthrough practice, and had him in the doghouse upon his return to practice on Thursday.
Darius Slayton, Sterling Shepard, C.J. Board and Austin Mack were the Giants' top four receivers on Friday. Corey Coleman was also an intriguing player on the practice squad.
