Giants re-sign K Joey Slye, waive DB Tony Lippett

The New York Giants made several roster moves on the eve of training camp. They re-signed kicker Joey Slye and signed wide receiver Da’Mari Scott off waivers.

To make room for the duo, the Giants terminated the contract of defensive back Tony Lippett and were granted a commissioner’s exemption on defensive back Kamrin Moore, who was suspended last month by the team after his arrest stemming from a domestic violence incident.

Slye was with the Giants for one week this spring (May 6-14). He hails from Virginia Tech where he hit 78-of-108 field goals (72.2%) and 169-of-172 of his extra points (98.3%) in 50 games. He’ll have a steep hill to climb challenging Pro Bowler Aldrick Rosas.

Scott was released by the Buffalo Bills on Tuesday. As per the Giants:

“Scott, 6-0 and 205 pounds, played in three games for the Bills last season, but did not have a reception. He entered the NFL in 2018 as a rookie free agent with the Cleveland Browns. Scott was on the Browns’ practice squad and then the active roster before his release on Dec. 1. He was signed to the Bills’ practice squad four days later and to Buffalo’s active roster on Dec. 8, and played in the team’s final three games.”

Not sure how many receivers the Giants need in camp but Scott makes a baker’s dozen.
