Giants QB Kyle Lauletta granted delay, awaits new court date after traffic arrest

NEW YORK _ Kyle Lauletta's scheduled Nov. 7 court date in Hudson County Superior Court has been delayed at the defendant's request and waived by the Central Judicial Processing court pending the assignment of a new date, per sources.

Lauletta's court date, in other words, will be rescheduled as the case proceeds.

So the initial Nov. 7 court date in Jersey City, which the Daily News reported Friday morning, is off. But Lauletta, 23, arrested Tuesday morning at approximately 8 a.m. in Weehawken, N.J., after ignoring traffic direction and nearly striking a police officer, still faces a litany of charges:

Eluding police (a third-degree crime), obstructing administration of law and resisting arrest (both disorderly persons offenses), reckless driving, disregarding an officer's directions, improper turn in marked traffic lane, and failure to remain in a marked lane.

Records show that the Weehawken Municipal Court initially had assigned a court date of Nov. 13 for Lauletta's non-indictable traffic tickets, but because he also had indictable criminal charges, the case was transferred to Hudson County Superior.

It is now up to the Superior Court to make its own determination on the charges, and if any of the charges are remanded back to Weehawken Municipal Court, then a new date could be set on whatever charges are re-assigned back to it.

Lauletta was back with the team for its Wednesday workout leading into four off days on the Giants' Week 9 bye. The Giants' next game is Nov. 12 at San Francisco, where they will face a 49ers team that on Thursday Night bludgeoned the Oakland Raiders, 34-3, behind an all-time NFL debut by third-string QB Nick Mullens.

Mullens, an undrafted second-year player out of Southern Miss, completed 16 of 22 passes for 262 yards, three TDs, no turnovers and a 151.9 quarterback rating.

Eli Manning has not thrown three touchdown passes in any game this season. Lauletta has not been active for a game yet this season. The Giants (1-7) and Raiders (1-7) are tied for the worst record in the league, just behind the Niners (2-7).
