Giants plan season-long tribute to Barclay

The Giants will pay a season-long tribute to former star Jacinda Barclay who died in October. (AAP)

Every Giants player will have the number 34 as part of their playing kit throughout the AFLW season in an ongoing tribute to Jacinda Barclay.

Barclay died at the age of 29 in her home in Western Australia last October.

The multi-talented sports star had been with the Giants since 2017, and also appeared for the Australian women's baseball team in five World Cups.

The Giants paid tribute to Barclay at the end of their recent practice match against Adelaide.

A minute's silence will be observed before the Giants' season opener against Fremantle in Perth on Sunday.

And each Giants player as well as staff will also have Barclay's No.34 as part of their apparel throughout the season.

The club says further commemorations will occur at the Giants' first home game in Sydney or Canberra.

The Giants finished second in conference A last season, but are being tipped to finish mid-table in 2021 in a year where the conference system has been abolished.
