Giants place Ryan Connelly on IR, claim Chris Peace off waivers from Chargers

The New York Giants wasted little time in making a decision on rookie linebacker Ryan Connelly, who suffered a torn ACL in a 24-3 victory over the Washington Redskins at MetLife Stadium in Week 4.

On Monday afternoon, the Giants placed Connelly on season-ending injured reserve and claimed defensive end Chris Peace off of waivers from the Los Angeles Chargers.

An undrafted rookie out of Virginia, Peace signed with the Chargers following the 2019 NFL Draft and went on to find a place on their 53-man roster.

However, after just three weeks, Los Angeles decided to part ways with the 6-foot-2, 238-pound Peace, waiving him on Saturday prior to Sunday’s Week 4 slate of games.

Peace, who was Third-Team All-ACC in 2018, appeared in just one game this season and did not record any stats.

Additionally, the Giants have signed former Minnesota Vikings linebacker Devante Downs to their practice squad.

The 6-foot-2, 252-pound Downs was originally a seventh-round pick of the Vikings in the 2018 NFL Draft and appeared in 13 games for the team over two seasons, recording three total tackles before being waived last week.
