Giants-Patriots Week 6: Offense, defense and special teams snap counts

The New York Giants fell to 2-4 on the season following a 35-14 loss to the New England Patriots at Gillette Stadium on Thursday night, but despite the score, the game was much, much closer than anyone anticipated until roughly 8:00 remaining.

The Giants fought valiantly, but in the end, it was not enough to overcome the dynasty that is Bill Belichick, Tom Brady and these Patriots.

Here’s a look at the Week 6 snap counts that led to the loss:

Offensive snaps: 50
Defensive snaps:82
Special teams snaps: 26

The Giants were so exceptionally thin on the offensive side of the ball that only 15 players (11 starters) recorded a snap. And nine of those 15 recorded 98% or more of those snaps, so it tells you just how short-handed the Giants actually were.

On the defensive side of the ball, 82 snaps is absurd and speaks to how long the Patriots held the ball on Thursday night. It’s also a testament to how well the defense played considering they had be be absolutely exhausted.

Finally, on special teams, little stands out.
