Giants’ Pat Shurmur promises an ‘epic’ takedown of NFL officials

New York Giants head coach Pat Shurmur was not in a jovial mood following a 28-10 loss to the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday afternoon and he very nearly took it out on NFL officials.

Although Shurmur was able to stop himself while standing at the podium after the game, he promised that biting his tongue would be short-lived and that an “epic” rant against the league’s horrendous officiating would be upcoming.

The usually subdued Shurmur has taken exception to several calls this season, including a handful in Week 5.

At one point, rookie cornerback Deandre Baker was flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct for simply looking at a Vikings players, while several other highly questionable calls were made going in both directions.

The NFL has been plagued by poor officiating for years now, but this season has been especially awful and Shurmur is not the only head coach complaining. In fact, several coaches across the league have vented their frustrations in recent weeks and that doesn’t not appear to be a trend that’s slowing down.

Shurmur has filed multiple complaints with the league this year, although the results of those filings have yet to be made public.

If and when Shurmur does decide to unload on the officials, it will be safe to assume that a fine — of not a suspension, depending on how bad it is — will be incoming.
