Giants’ Pat Shurmur brushes off Odell Beckham’s comments on Eli Manning

The New York Giants are in a good mental place this year and they aren’t interested in going backwards for the sake of their former players who can’t seem to move on.

That trend continued again on Thursday at the final day of the team’s mandatory minicamp after Odell Beckham Jr. seemingly attempted to make waves with a subtle jab at Eli Manning and his arm strength.

“I have to get adjusted to the speed because he’s got an arm. He’s throwing that ball hard,” Beckham said, via Cleveland.com. “So just catching it from the first day I was like wow, this is completely different. It just takes time.”

Asked about Beckham’s comments, head coach Pat Shurmur brushed it off and put quite an interesting spin on the seeming criticism.

For the Giants, that will be the end of it. Shurmur has glossed things over and moved on, and it’s unlikely Manning will even bother to offer a retort. Rather, the collective lot will go about their business as quietly and drama-free as they’ve done all offseason.

There’s a new tone — a new culture — in East Rutherford these days and they refuse to be sidetracked by their exes.
