Giants part ways with two more from pro personnel department

The post-2022 NFL draft purge continued for the New York Giants on Tuesday.

One day after it was revealed that director of college scouting Chris Pettit and senior personnel executive Kyle O’Brien had both exited stage left, two additional members of the personnel department followed them.

Also getting the boot from East Rutherford are senior pro scouting executive Ken Sternfeld and senior pro scout/football systems analyst Matt Schauger.

Dan Duggan of The Athletic was the first to report the news.

As Duggan alludes, both Sternfeld and Schauger were long-time members of the Giants organization. In fact, Sternfeld even pre-dates Tom Coughlin, who was hired in 2004 and resigned in 2015.

Schauger joined the show just one year after Coughlin and three years after Sternfeld.

Although these moves leave four openings in the pro personnel department, it’s expected that general manager Joe Schoen will quickly hire replacements. They could come via internal promotion, but it’s more likely Schoen goes outside the building and hires people he knows and trusts — possibly from the Buffalo Bills organization.
