Giants open as 6.5-point road underdogs vs. Buccaneers

The New York Giants (0-2) continue to lose football games and it’s difficult not only for fans to understand, but for oddsmakers as well. The Giants have won just eight times over their last 34 games and it’s becoming more evident that they will be not be favorites in many games this season.

Such is the case this coming week against the Buccaneers in Tampa Bay. The Giants are early 6.5-point underdogs after losing their latest contest, 28-14, to the Buffalo Bills at home on Sunday.

The Buccaneers (1-1) are coming off a thrilling win over the Panthers in Carolina last Thursday night where the defense kept Pro Bowl running back Christian McCaffrey from scoring the winning touchdown as the clock wound down.

The Giants are averaging just 15.5 points per game this season, while surrendering 31.5 per. Tampa, under new head coach Bruce Arians, is averaging 18.5 points on offense and 22.5 on defense.

They do have the freewheeling Jameis Winston at quarterback, who left with a clean pocket, can be explosive. The Giants have not been getting pressure on quarterbacks this year and the secondary is in disarray. Tampa has a talented group of wideouts led by Mike Evans and Chris Godwin.

The Giants are 1-4 against the point spread in their last five games.
