Giants open as 2.5-point underdogs vs. Redskins

The New York Giants have opened as 2.5-point road underdogs for next Sunday’s game against the Washington Redskins at FedEx Field, per BetMGM. The over/under opened at 41.5 points.

In a matchup between the least of the NFC East, the two 3-11 teams will play for the right to keep out of the cellar, where the Giants have finished the past two seasons.

A victory would give the Giants a season sweep over Washington and clinch third place for 2019. The Giants defeated the Redskins, 24-7, in Week 4 at MetLife Stadium.

The game should bring some view interest to it. Daniel Jones is expected to start for the Giants this week, returning after missing two games with a high ankle sprain.

Washington will be led by their rookie quarterback, Dwayne Haskins, who was selected 15th overall in April’s NFL Draft. Jones was taken sixth overall and many — especially Haskins and his camp — felt he should have been the Giants’ pick.

The other side of the story is the reason why the Giants took Jones where they did so that Washington (and other teams) could not select him. The Giants had the 17th pick as well and as it turned out, would have missed out on Jones had they not taken him sixth.

Haskins has started the last six games for the Redskins and has gone 2-4. Washington has been competitive in the last four, winning two.

Haskins made his NFL debut against The Giants in Week 4, completing nine of 17 passes for 107 yards with no touchdowns and three interceptions.

He had his best game as pro this past week against the Philadelphia Eagles: 19-of-28, 261 yards, two touchdowns and no INTs.
