Giants offense sputters in 37-18 loss to Cowboys

The New York Giants (2-7) were defeated 37-18 by the Dallas Cowboys (5-3) at MetLife Stadium on Sunday night.

Though it was a one-point game entering the fourth quarter, the Cowboys pulled away thanks to some big plays and broken coverage from the Big Blue secondary.

While the defense had its share of issues, the Giants offense sputtered to a measly performance. They finished with 271 total yards and 171 passing yards. while scoring just one touchdown in five trips to the red zone.

Rookie quarterback Daniel Jones had some bright moments as a passer both in ball placement and making checks at the line, but the first-round pick continues to be hampered by turnovers. He had an interception and two fumbles lost in primetime. He now has 16 turnovers on the season.

The Giants struggled to get running back Saquon Barkley the ball in space. The offensive line didn’t give him much to work with between the tackles as he took 14 carries for just 28 yards. He did add a 65-yard reception on a screen pass.

The offensive line also struggled in pass protection—allowing five sacks and 12 quarterback hits.

Safety Antione Bethea recorded an interception while newcomer Leonard Williams added a quarterback hit. Safety Jabrill Peppers led the way with 12 total tackles.

The Giants are back at MetLife Stadium in Week 10 in a matchup against the New York Jets.
