Giants fullback Nikita Whitlock told WCBS-TV on Wednesday that the Moonachie, N.J., home where he and his family are living was broken into and vandalized on Tuesday evening, the crooks leaving graffiti on the walls that included a swastika, the letters "KKK," and the words "Go back to Africa."
"It just re-establishes that no matter where you are, no matter who you are, this can happen to you," he told the station.
"It's very disgusting actually, it's very disheartening," Whitlock's wife, Ashley, said. "You hear about things that do happen but you never think 'Oh, this is going to happen to me.'"
Whitlock said this is the second time he's had his home broken into. It also happened last month over Thanksgiving weekend. This time jewelry and electronics were taken while he, his wife and two children, were out. Whitlock said he was more upset about the graffiti and the hate messages than the loss of property.
"It's about to be 2017," Whitlock said. "Oppression, violence, racism, hatred, violence, there's no need for that."
Whitlock, who was placed on injured reserve with a foot injury this summer, was also suspended from the NFL for 10 games in September for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing substances.
