The NFL and NFLPA continue to negotiate the details on the 2020 season and how it will unfold as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, but many hurdles still remain as training camps loom.
Many of those hurdles center around the health and safety of the league’s players, and New York Giants left tackle Nate Solder, the team’s NFLPA representative, tweeted a threat on Friday suggesting there may be no football in 2020 if the NFL doesn’t get out of their own way.
The NFL and NFLPA will continue their negotiations this coming Monday when they meet to discuss COVID-19 testing, financial compensation and whether or not players can opt out of the 2020 season.
To date, the NFL has not outlined or announced any potential contingency plans and remain full steam ahead to start the season on time.
The league has, however, announced some updated protocols, which include no post-game jersey exchanges after three hours of players sweating and bleeding on each other.
