Giants met with Delaware safety Nasir Adderley

The New York Giants were plenty busy on Friday, sending scouts, coaches and executives across the country to take in various Pro Days.

One such Pro Day came in Delaware, where Giants’ defensive backs coach Everett Withers not only watched from the sidelines, but also met privately with safety Nasir Adderley.

Unfortunately, Adderley’s day was cut short when he appeared to suffer a hamstring injury during his 40-yard dash, which unofficially clocked in at 4.51.

Adderley had also not participated at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis due to a high ankle sprain, which he suffered during his final season at Delaware.

Despite the series of injuries, one NFL scout told NJ Advance Media that it’s unlikely to sway the opinions of interested teams.

“If you liked him a lot then you’re still probably going to like him a lot,” the scout said. “If you didn’t like him as much as people thought, then this kind of validates those feelings.

“You want a guy to have a workout so you can see for yourself what he looks like. No one is going to have that opportunity because he didn’t do anything at the combine because he was hurt then, too.”

Adderley, meanwhile, told the media he could envision himself starting alongside Jabrill Peppers in East Rutherford.

“Stepping into an immediate starting role is my goal,” Adderley said. “Wherever I go, I want to step right in and contribute. I just want to take it all in and make the most of it.”

Adderley finished last season with 86 tackles (1.5 tackles for loss), seven passes defensed, four interceptions, one forced fumble and 149 yards on five kickoff returns.
