Giants’ Mark McLaurin has fractured bone in foot, George Asafo-Adjei a concussion

The news isn’t getting any better for the New York Giants these days. The first few days of camp have been fraught with bad news and injuries.

On Sunday, the Giants learned that rookie defensive back Mark McLaurin has a fractured bone in his foot. McLaurin left practice on Saturday after his foot was stepped on. Now the Giants know the extent of that injury. What they don’t know right now is how long he’ll be sidelined.

McLaurin (6-foot-2, 215 pounds) went undrafted out of Mississippi State and was signed by the Giants after the draft. He has been used at both defensive back and linebacker by defensive coordinator James Bettcher, possibly auditioning for the “moneybacker” role.

In other injury news, offensive tackle George Asafo-Adjei (aka “Big George”), a seventh-round selection in this year’s NFL Draft is in the concussion protocol.

Big George got extensive playing time the first three days in practice with veterans Nate Solder and Mike Remmers taking limited reps as both are returning from offseason surgeries.
