The Giants are giving cornerback Eli Apple a clean slate, and so is Landon Collins.
The Giants safety, who called Apple a 'cancer' at the end of last year's 3-13 season, said the two have "buried the hatchet" and he is excited that Apple is still with the team.
"That's my guy, my brother," Collins said via a conference call on Monday. "We know what we got to do. Make this season go."
Apple had a tumultuous season with the Giants last year, missing four games and being suspended for the final game after violating team policy.
His effort in losses against the Rams and 49ers last season was also called into question, but Collins believes his teammate is ready for a bounce-back year.
"Yeah, he's a great corner," said Collins. "Smart ... great coverage guy. We need him and are glad to have him back."
Collins, the Giants lone Pro Bowler from last season, also sounded excited to begin working under new defensive coordinator James Bettcher.
"It's perfect," said Collins. "It's like I'm in college again, back to what I kind of knew. It's going to play fast."
Collins' season ended after Week 16 last year after he broke his arm in a loss against the Cardinals but said everything is "back to 100 percent" and he is looking forward to learning his role in the new defense.
"Coach said he's going to have me all over the field," he added. "And that's what I'm looking forward to."
