Giants’ Joe Judge won’t confirm or deny Shane Lemieux’s injury

New York Giants left guard Shane Lemieux reportedly has a partially torn patellar tendon but the team is not going place him on the shelf. The plan is for Lemieux to play through the injury.

“I didn’t read the report. I’m not going to comment on the specifics of any injury,” head coach Joe Judge said on Wednesday when pressed about the injury.

“Oh, I think it’s very realistic,” said Judge when asked if he thought Lemieux can play through the injury. “He’s a tough guy already. He’ll be out there practicing with us today.”

The practice on Wednesday was in shells but there was little contact. Judge did not know when the next full-padded practice would take place. It will be then where we will find out where Lemieux’s knee stands.

The Giants added center/guard Billy Price and guard Ben Bredeson this week via trades as insurance should Lemieux have a setback or is unable to go.

The Giants hope that Lemieux, a fifth-round draft pick out of Oregon last year whose reputation for gritty play preceded him, will not miss time as they are counting on him to be an anchor in the middle of the offensive line.
