New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones looked like a real gem on Monday night against the Pittsburgh Steelers, but he tossed two critical interceptions which is now all anyone can seem to focus on.

But don’t talk to Joe Judge about that. While he admits the interceptions are unacceptable and can not continue to happen, the first-time head coach says he woke up on Tuesday morning and could not have been more happy that Jones is on his team.
“I think that guy stood in the pocket with a lot of courage last night, delivered a lot of really good balls for us, really controlled the flow of the game, did a heck of a job under pressure. I’m very pleased with the way Daniel played last night,” Judge told reporters on Tuesday. “I know the rest of the team feels very confident with him in there calling the signals for us. There are obviously a couple of plays that we’re going to have to correct and move on from. But man, I’ll tell you what, we woke up this morning and I’m glad that he’s on our team.”
The always humble and self-critical Jones made no excuses for his errors after the game, taking full responsibility for his miscues and vowing to be better.
“I think as an offense, I thought we did some good things and some not so good things, and I certainly feel like I played good at times and bad at times. I think we got to do a better job of being consistent, avoiding the bad plays, avoiding the big mistakes, and I’ll certainly work to correct those things. We got to be more consistent and execute at a higher level,” Jones said.
The interceptions were unfortunate and the second one likely cost the Giants the game, but those are errors a quality young player will eventually iron out.
Looking ahead, it’s clear that Jones is not only the franchise, but that he’s got enough skills to eventually play at an elite level and rank among the best quarterbacks in football.
