Giants-Jets preseason Week 1: Offense, defense and special teams snap counts

The New York Giants opened the 2019 preseason in style, taking down their in-state rivals, the New York Jets, 31-22, at MetLife Stadium in front a surprisingly large crowd given the severe weather that impacted the area on Thursday night.

The big story of the day was the impressive debut for rookie quarterback Daniel Jones, who went 5-of-5 for 67 yards and an impressive touchdown. But there was quite a bit to glean beyond that.

To get a start on breaking it all down throughout the day, let’s take a look at the offensive, defensive and special teams snap counts.

There’s nothing that really stands out as too much of a surprise considering it was Week 1 of the preseason, so naturally the Giants wanted to get everyone as much playing time as possible to evaluate what they have.

It will be interesting to see how snaps are broken down in Week 2 in comparison to Week 1 — that’s where we’ll really begin to see what the Giants are thinking and who they’re getting a closer look at.
