Giants’ Jake Fromm may start vs. Eagles in Week 16

The New York Giants remain hopeful that quarterback Daniel Jones (neck) will return this season but if he doesn’t, it may turn into the Jake Fromm show.

After taking over for Mike Glennon in Week 15, Fromm completed six of his 12 passes for 82 yards. And while that’s nothing to write home about, it was a noticeable improvement over Glennon, who completed 13 of his 24 passes for 99 yards and tossed three interceptions.

After the 21-6 loss to the Dallas Cowboys, Giants head coach Joe Judge admitted that Fromm’s play may have changed the team’s plans moving forward.

“We got to a point in the game where I wanted to see what Jake could do, point blank. We weren’t doing enough moving the ball otherwise, so I wanted to make sure I had the chance to see Jake and that will obviously open up a conversation about what we’re going to do this week,” Judge told reporters. “We’ll talk about it as a staff and we’ll make the best decision for the team.”

For Fromm, he’s not ready to look ahead just yet. He still only knows a small portion of the offense and is focused on adding to the number of plays that can be called with him under center.

However, the 23-year-old was thrilled to finally see some live NFL action.

“Obviously, it was really fun to get out there. It kind of checked the list, checked the box there a little bit. I got to complete a childhood dream and got to play in an NFL game,” Fromm said. “It was awesome, just the ability to go out there with the guys. There are some new guys, I’m new. It was just fun to be able to get out, move the ball a little bit, try to compete, and give us a chance to win there at the end.”

Knowing how Judge likes to approach things, he’ll try to keep the NFL world in the dark all week. He won’t name a starter until kickoff on Sunday but it’s a safe bet that Fromm will be under center.
