Giants injury report: Sterling Shepard, Darius Slayton sit out

The New York Giants returned to practice on Wednesday afternoon, but they are a little worse for wear — at least in comparison to this time a week ago.

Wide receiver Sterling Shepard, who suffered a concussion on Sunday in Dallas, was not participating, although he did have a helmet on and did some light work/jogging on the side.

Although the Giants re-signed wide receiver T.J. Jones, it remains possible that Shepard could make it back in time for a Week 2 game against the Buffalo Bills.

Meanwhile, right guard Kevin Zeitler (shoulder) did appear to be participating during the media portion of practice, but wide receiver Darius Slayton (groin/hamstring) and tight end Garrett Dickerson (calf) were not.

Linebacker Kareem Martin, who suffered a knee sprain and is expected to miss several weeks, remained in the field house. He is expected to be placed on IR by the close of business on Wednesday.

Below is a full participation breakdown (via the Giants):

Did not practice: WR Sterling Shepard (concussion), WR Darius Slayton (hamstring), TE Garrett Dickerson (quad), LB Kareem Martin (knee)

Limited participation: G Kevin Zeitler (shoulder), LB Markus Golden (hip), DL Dexter Lawrence (shoulder)
