Giants injury report: Darius Slayton, Dexter Lawrence questionable

There had been a slight chance that wide receiver Sterling Shepard (toe) would practice this week and be activated in time for a Sunday game against the Washington Football Team, but the New York Giants ultimately decided against it.

While Shepard did do some work on the side this week, he was not present during Friday’s rain-soaked practice and remains on injured reserve.

“He’s been making progress every day with the trainers,” head coach Joe Judge told reporters.

The same appears to be the case for linebacker David Mayo (knee) who, despite practicing, has not yet been activated from IR.

“He’s been practicing the last couple of days. He’s making a lot of progress. Obviously, we’ll talk about the actives and inactives. He’ll be in that conversation for us,” Judge added.

Meanwhile, linebacker Kyler Fackrell (ankle), defensive lineman Dexter Lawrence (knee), safety Jabrill Peppers (ankle) and wide receiver Darius Slayton (foot) were all participants this week, but the results were varied.

Fackrell and Peppers did not receive an injury designation on Friday and are expected to play against Washington in Week 5.

Lawrence and Slayton, however, have each been listed as questionable and are likely to be game-time decisions. On the plus side, barring a setback for either, the odds are in their favor to play on Sunday.

“He was out there working with us yesterday. We pulled him back a little bit on some of his stuff, but we’ll see how he is today. I’m expecting Darius to play. If the trainers tell me otherwise, they tell me otherwise,” Judge said.
