Giants inexplicably rise in latest USA TODAY power rankings

The New York Giants were dropped by the Detroit Lions in Week 8, falling to 2-6 on the season and establishing themselves as one of the most under-performing teams in the entire league.

Despite that, the roller coaster that is USA TODAY power rankings once again went in an unexpected direction this week as Big Blue moved up one spot to No. 26 overall.

However, their placement didn’t come without one unprovoked and pointless shot at Eli Manning because, well… Old habits die hard.

Daniel Jones has generated 13 of team’s league-high 19 turnovers. Eli Manning’s rookie year one of two when he didn’t have at least 13 TOs.

Comparatively, the Washington Redskins remained in place at No. 30 overall, while the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys both saw bumps to their positioning, moving up three spots to No. 14 overall and two spots to No. 13 overall, respectively.

The New York Jets, for those of you who like to compare, fell one spot to No. 29 overall.

The Miami Dolphins remain entrenched at No. 32 overall, while the New England Patriots may never move from ranking No. 1 overall.
