Giants high on PFF’s offseason improvement chart

Think the New York Giants are having the offseason they need to get back to NFL civilization? Believe it or not, they just might be, and the the NFL Draft is still to come.

In Pro Football Focus’ latest “offseason improvement index” the Giants are rated third behind the Arizona Cardinals and Indianapolis Colts.

The Cardinals top the list after dumping running back David Johnson and his bloated contract on Houston in exchange for Pro Bowl wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins. The Colts have had a strong offseason, signing quarterback Philip Rivers, trading for defensive tackle DeForest Buckner and re-signing offensive tackle Anthony Castonzo.

The Giants have addressed several needs at cornerback (James Bradberry) linebacker (Blake Martinez, Kyler Fackrell, David Mayo), offensive tackle (Cam Fleming) and special teams (Nate Ebner, Cody Core), not to mention the decision to play the franchise tag on Leonard Williams.

In addition, the Giants’ new coaching staff has been widely heralded as strong hires all around.

A light at the end of the tunnel?
