Giants’ Golden Tate issues statement on pending PED suspension

New York Giants wide receiver Golden Tate has been hit with a four-game suspension for violating the NFL’s performance-enhancing drugs policy, but is currently appealing and feels optimistic about his chances.

After news dropped of the pending suspension, which the Giants were reportedly unaware of when they signed Tate in March, the veteran receiver released a formal statement.

The appeal of Tate’s pending suspension will be heard and decision on sometimes in August.

From now until the conclusion of the appeal, Tate will be allowed to participate in training camp practices, team meetings and preseason games. Should the suspension be upheld, Tate would still be allowed to participate in team activities up until Week 1, at which point his suspension would begin.

In addition to Tate’s pending suspension, the Giants have also lost wide receivers Corey Coleman (ACL), Sterling Shepard (fractured thumb), Darius Slayton (hamstring), Brittan Golden (groin) and Alex Wesley (PUP) over the first week of camp.
