Giants’ Golden Tate denies Percy Harvin’s pre-Super Bowl fight story

Just prior to Super Bowl XLVIII at MetLife Stadium, then-Seattle Seahawks wide receivers Golden Tate and Percy Harvin we’re reportedly in a fight — a very serious fight.

At the time, reports suggested Harvin had body-slammed Tate and nearly broke his neck, while other reports suggested the two had exchanged blows and that Tate left the melee with a black eye.

On Wednesday, for the very first time, Harvin addressed their pre-Super Bowl dust-up and explained to Bleacher Report what led up to the exchange and how the entire thing went down.

In the interview, Harvin admits to starting the fight after Tate said something he didn’t like during Super Bowl media day, suggesting that Tate ended up in the team’s laundry with a fresh shiner as a result.

Although Harvin apologized, Tate, now with the New York Giants and freshly reinstated from a four-game suspension, was quick to hop on Twitter and dispute the claims.

Some of the duos former teammates have sided with Harvin’s version of events, but ultimately, no one will every truly know what went down other than those who lived it.

Either way, for now, Tate should focus on his Week 5 return and helping the Giants get over .500 for the first time in three years.
