Giants’ Golden Tate: Daniel Jones has a ‘super, super strong arm’

From the very moment the New York Giants selected Duke quarterback Daniel Jones with the No. 6 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, opinions on the young signal caller have changed drastically.

In the weeks leading up to the draft, Jones’ stock was soaring and some even began to ponder whether or not he was the best quarterback in the draft. However, when general manager Dave Gettleman called his name, the narrative swiftly changed.

Suddenly, Jones was a reach with a weak arm and the decision would likely doom the Giants for decades.

One of the fiercest criticism facing Jones in the aftermath of the Giants’ selection was that he had a weak arm — something Big Blue coaches defiantly denied.

Within the first few moments of rookie minicamp, Jones wiped away those concerns, showing an impressively strong and accurate arm that wowed the media in attendance and even his own teammates.

With organized team activities now underway, several veteran players have also gotten the opportunity to see what Jones brings to the table. And to say wide receiver Golden Tate is impressed would be an understatement.

“Dan the man, he’s looking good,” Tate said Thursday on Sirius XM NFL Radio. “In my mind quarterback is the toughest position to play because you have to understand what each one of your guys are doing in addition to the coverages and the front and all sorts of stuff. He’s doing a good job.

“Talent-wise, the guys got a super, super strong arm. He can move around a little bit.”

Considering Tate has played with the likes of Russell Wilson, Carson Wentz and Matthew Stafford, that’s some high praise for Jones.
