ORLANDO, Fla. _ The Odell Beckham Jr. trade market is wide open.
Giants GM Dave Gettleman on Tuesday afternoon had several easy opportunities to simply say Beckham was not available via trade, and he declined to commit to Beckham every time.
This happened as reports continued to confirm the Daily News' Monday exclusive that the L.A. Rams have discussed a trade for Beckham. The News has reported that the Giants' starting asking price is more than a first-round pick, but something less than two first-round picks.
"He's on our team," Gettleman said, refusing to commit to Beckham.
But will he be?
"He's on the team. What do you want me to tell you?" Gettleman added.
Well, that he's not available via trade.
"He's on the team right now," Gettleman repeated.
So he is available via trade, then.
"I just said he's on the team," Gettleman said a final time.
Head coach Pat Shurmur earlier had made a similarly non-committal statement when asked by ESPN about Beckham's Giants future, falling in lock-step with president John Mara's comments dating back to Sunday.
The question was, Do you want Beckham on your football team?
Shurmur answered: "He's an outstanding football player, you know? He's on our team right now, so that's how I'm moving forward as a coach."
