Giants fall in latest USA TODAY power rankings despite win

The New York Giants shot up eight spots in the USA TODAY power rankings last week following their win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but apparently an all-around performance leading to a second consecutive win wasn’t nearly as impressive.

In fact, the 24-3 trouncing of the Washington Redskins wasn’t even enough for the Giants to keep their place.

In their latest power rankings edition, USA TODAY has the Giants dropping two spots to No. 25 overall after reaching .500 for the first time since 2016.

Return of WR Golden Tate from suspension should be quite a lift for rookie QB Daniel Jones with Vikings, Patriots defenses on deck.

Meanwhile, the Washington Redskins stayed put at No. 31 overall following the loss.

Comparatively, the Philadelphia Eagles shot up nine spots to No. 9 overall after lucking out against the Green Bay Packers, who blew two consecutive goal-to-go situations in the final minutes.

And the Dallas Cowboys? They dropped two spots to No. 6 overall following their first loss of the season, which came at the hands of the Teddy Bridgewater-led New Orleans Saints.

The Miami Dolphins remain at No. 32 overall, while the New England Patriots maintain their stranglehold on the No. 1 spot.

Oh, and the New York Jets? They moved up two spots to No. 27 overall and are now just a couple spots behind the Giants.
