Giants’ Evan Engram was NFC East’s highest-graded tight end

New York Giants tight end Evan Engram did not get off to a strong start in 2018, dealing with a bad case of the drops and some injury issues that limited him to just 11 games.

However, as the season wore on, Engram began to flash in a big way, displaying some of the talent that led the Giants to select him in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft.

When all was said and done, Engram had finished the year with 45 receptions for 577 yards and three touchdowns — the vast majority of that coming over the final four weeks of the season.

Because of his late resurgence, Engram’s Pro Football Focus grade soared, ultimately ending the season with the best grade for a tight end in the NFC East, barely edging out Philadelphia’s Zach Ertz.

Considering how well NFC East tight ends played in 2018, especially against the Giants, it’s a testament to Engram’s resolve and work ethic that he was able to finish the year with such a respectably high grade.

Perhaps with a little added confidence now under his belt, Engram can come out in 2019 and establish himself as not just one of the best tight ends in the NFC East, but one of the best tight ends in all of football.
