Giants’ Eli Penny out, Golden Tate doubtful vs. Cowboys

The New York Giants will head into Sunday’s must-win game against the Dallas Cowboys surprisingly healthy despite what was a sometimes concerning injury report throughout the week.

Wide receiver Golden Tate (calf) is the only Giant to be declared doubtful, and he remains a potential option for injured reserve so that the team can clear a roster spot for linebacker Kyler Fackrell. However, if Tate does land on IR, that would essentially end his season unless the Giants make a deep run into the playoffs.

Decisions on Tate and Fackrell are expected on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the only Giant declared out is fullback Eli Penny (illness). He will miss his second consecutive game, which is a major blow to New York’s ground attack.

Safety Jabrill Peppers (ankle), tight end Evan Engram (ankle), wide receiver Sterling Shepard (rib), quarterback Daniel Jones (hamstring) and cornerback Darnay Holmes (knee) did not receive a designation. All are expected to start against Dallas in Week 17.

Linebacker Cam Brown was added to the injury report with a non-COVID-19-related illness. He is listed as questionable and will be a game-time decision.

The full participation report can be found below (via Giants):

Did Not Practice – LB Cam Brown (illness), FB Eli Penny (illness), WR Golden Tate (calf)

Limited Practice – TE  Evan Engram (calf), S Jabrill Peppers (ankle), WR Sterling Shepard (rib)

Full Practice – CB Darnay Holmes (knee), QB Daniel Jones (hamstring)
