U.S. senator says Giants’ Eli Manning deserves a statue at Ole Miss

U.S. Sen. Roger Wicker of Mississippi recently told TMZ Sports that Giants quarterback Eli Manning deserves a statue to go alongside his father Archie’s at Ole Miss.

Eli Manning was a standout for the Rebels from 2000-2003. The elder Manning excelled as the Rebels’ signal-caller in the late 1960s and was the second overall selection by the New Orleans Saints in the 1971 NFL Draft.

Here’s what TMZ Sports had to say:

Wicker says Eli — who’s a legend with BOTH the Rebels and the NY Giants — “absolutely” should have his own statue at the school.

“Eli Manning is a great athlete. Two Super Bowl rings. A good family man. A good humanitarian. And, he volunteers his time.”

Think Wicker’s just playing to his constituents?? Think again … the senator actually attended Ole Miss with Archie himself!!!

For the record, the Indianapolis Colts built a statue of Eli’s brother Peyton in 2017. What other football family can say it has three members immortalized in bronze?
