Giants’ Eli Manning in the best shape of his career?

New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning is doing his best to fight off the aging process, as the 38-year-old reportedly showed up to organized team activities in great shape.

Monday was the first day of OTAs for the Giants and one of the narratives around Manning was just how good he looked physically.

Paul Schwartz of the New York Post shared his thoughts on Manning’s appearance, which he described as “exquisite.”

Fending off Father Time is never easy. Manning looks to be in exquisite shape. When he lined up next to Jones, there was no indication his physical skills were lacking, even though he is 17 years older than the rookie from Duke.

Manning talked about his conditioning with reporters, and went on to say he believes he still has plenty left in the tank.

“I feel great,” Manning said. “Worked hard this offseason to stay in shape and continue to work on trying to stay young and mobile and strong and stay healthy. I feel like I’m in good shape and have all my skills to go out there and play well.”

Giants head coach Pat Shurmur also commented on how Manning looked on the first day of OTAs.

It’s no surprise that Manning has put in the work this offseason to get in even better shape.

Not only is he motivated to prove he’s not over the hill and finished to his detractors, but he’s also up against his age and at a point in his career when many quarterbacks have declined – or at least started to.

Clearly Manning is not going to just accept his age and inevitable physical decay. Judging from his appearance, the Giants signal-caller is putting himself in a position to play at a high level in 2019.
