Giants elevate Jaylon Thomas, Jalen Mayfield from practice squad

The New York Giants will be without offensive linemen Andrew Thomas, John Michael Schmitz and Shane Lemieux on Sunday against the Miami Dolphins.

With Evan Neal also dealing with some minor injuries, the Giants were forced to elevate a pair of potential reserves ahead of the Week 5 game: Jaylon Thomas and Jalen Mayfield.

The 6-foot-3, 311-pound Thomas was initially signed by the Baltimore Ravens as an undrafted free agent out of SMU back in May. He was waived as a part of final cuts and promptly signed to the Giants’ practice.

Thomas was previously elevated in Week 3 against the San Francisco 49ers.

The 6-foot-5, 320-pound Mayfield was a third-round pick of the Atlanta Falcons in the 2021 NFL draft. He was released in August after missing the 2022 regular season due to injury and joined the Giants’ practice squad a few days later.

For Mayfield, this is his first elevation of the season.
