The Oakland Raiders weren’t the only team interested in shocking the NFL world on Thursday night at the 2019 NFL Draft. As it turns out, the New York Giants and general manager Dave Gettleman were in a similar mood.
With dominant edge rusher Josh Allen and quarterback Dwayne Haskins still on the board, the Giants opted instead to take Duke quarterback Daniel Jones at No. 6 overall.
By most accounts, Jones was the fourth-ranked quarterback in the draft and would have potentially been available at No. 17 overall. But the Giants didn’t want to wait.
