Giants down to just $10.9 million in remaining cap space

The New York Giants entered free agency with limited salary cap space, but managed to get a lot done despite their hands being somewhat tied. However, if they wish to continue patching holes, they’re going to need to find more financial wiggle room.

The NFLPA currently lists the Giants with $10,875,273 in available cap space following their recent signings, which is roughly what the team has to set aside for the 2019 NFL Draft class.

There are several players who could be asked to restructure their contracts or take pay cut such as quarterback Eli Manning or cornerback Janoris Jenkins, but general manager Dave Gettleman appears content in letting them play out their deals.

Other potential options include linebacker Alec Ogletree, who has already collected on his roster bonus, or newly acquired guard Kevin Zeitler.

Whatever the case may ultimately be, additional cap space is needed and Gettleman will have to find it. After all, the Giants are still in need of a right tackle, a cornerback, edge rushers, depth at running back and a quarterback, which will likely come via the 2019 NFL Draft.
