Giants designate CB Sam Beal to return from injured reserve

When the New York Giants returned to East Rutherford on Monday, sophomore cornerback Sam Beal was not on the practice field despite being eligible to participate for the first time since prior to the start of the regular season.

While meeting with the Giants’ beat pool, head coach Pat Shurmur indicated that Beal could make his way back to the field on Wednesday.

As it turns out, Shurmur wasn’t blowing smoke.

The Giants announced just prior to practice on Wednesday that Beal had, in fact, been designated to return and will likely take the field later this morning with his teammates.

Beal, who was placed on injured reserve with a hamstring injury, now has a two-week window to get back into playing shape. At that point, he can be activated and placed back on the team’s 53-man roster and will be eligible to play against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 9.
