Giants defense nabs three interceptions in 12-9 overtime win over Chiefs

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. _ It took until just before the two-minute warning, but the Giants certainly gave their fans a "great show" as Ben McAdoo predicted _ and an overtime win.

Eli Manning found Roger Lewis Jr. for a 34-yard completion with two minutes left in overtime to set up a 23-yard game-winning field goal by Aldrick Rosas for a 12-9 win over the Kansas City Chiefs _ their first home win of the season.

Lewis made a spectacular diving catch as he was being pulled down by a Chiefs corner to haul in the third-and-5 play.

Janoris Jenkins, the goat of last week's 31-21 loss to the 49ers, got himself some redemption by intercepting Alex Smith with 2:18 left in the game to set up a 26-yard field goal by Aldrick Rosas to give the Giants a 9-6 lead late in the fourth quarter.

But on the Chiefs' next possession, Jenkins erased another interception after defensive pass interference was called against him and Kansas City responded by marching down field to force overtime.

But the Giants would not be denied and prevailed for their first home win of the season and second overall as they improve to 2-8 and avoid tying the worst start in franchise history, which was set in 1976.

The game was actually a complete turnaround for the defense as a whole, which allowed a combined 82 points over the last two games but held the Chiefs to just nine.

In fact, they looked more like the defense of last year, intercepting the ball three times, twice off Alex Smith _ who had just one interception entering the game _ and another off Travis Kelce as the Chiefs tried to get creative.

The Giants scored six of their nine points off turnovers, with Damon "Snacks" Harrison, known for his run-stuffing abilities, intercepting Smith to set up the first points of the game.

Smith attempted a shuffle pass to tight end Travis Kelce, but he was hit by Jason Pierre-Paul and the ball landed in Harrison's hands.

It gave the Giants prime field position at the Kansas City 26 and six plays later, Orleans Darkwa punched it in for a one-yard touchdown run with defensive tackle Robert Thomas lined up as a fullback to help pave the way.

Rosas missed the extra point with the winds whipping heavily across MetLife Stadium at 22 miles per hour, but he also found redemption by nailing the game-winner in overtime.
