Giants’ Darius Slayton, Garrett Dickerson out vs. Cowboys

The New York Giants are relatively healthy entering their Week 1 matchup with the Dallas Cowboys, but not entirely without a few battle scars. They will be without both rookie wide receiver Darius Slayton and tight end Garrett Dickerson on Sunday.

Slayton has been sidelined due to nagging groin/hamstring issues for the better part of the summer, while Dickerson sustained a calf injury just prior to the team’s final preseason game.

Slayton was on the back-end of the Giants’ depth at wide receiver, but could have factored into the return game if healthy. Dickerson, meanwhile, was likely to slide into double tight end packages due to his blocking prowess.

The good news is that right tackle Mike Remmers, who had missed practice on Wednesday and was limited on Thursday due to an illness, is feeling better and will start against the Cowboys.

Finally, cornerback Antonio Hamilton, who is dealing with an adductor issue, has been removed from the injury report and is expected to see time alongside rookie cornerback Deandre Baker and veteran Janoris Jenkins.
