Giants’ Daniel Jones near bottom in NFL.com’s QB value rankings

Where does New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones rank when factoring in contractual value and on-field performance? Near the very bottom if you were to ask Gregg Rosenthal of NFL Network.

Using numbers obtained from Over the Cap, Rosenthal broke down all of the league’s potential starting quarterbacks on Friday and Jones did not fare well, checking in at No. 24 overall — just below Josh Allen and just above Teddy Bridgewater.

Rank 24: Daniel Jones

Jones’ rookie season probably confirmed your priors. If you were a believer, he showed enough to latch on to. If not, his 68 combined fumbles, interceptions and sacks taken made him look like a poor man’s Jameis Winston. I didn’t have any priors, so this ranking is my way of saying I don’t know and want to see more.

Looks like a poor man’s Jameis Winston. Yikes.

Of course, as we’ve addressed multiple times this offseason, Jones is likely to shore up his fumbling issues in the same way Lamar Jackson did in his sophomore campaign.

Jackson, by the way, checked in at No. 2 overall.

As far as Jones taking sacks, there’s really not much to be said about that. The Giants have consistently struggled to protect their quarterbacks in recent years and are often among the league leaders in sacks surrendered. Until their offensive line is fixed, that will continue to be a problem.
