INDIANAPOLIS _ The Giants made two of their most obvious cuts on Wednesday, releasing linebackers Alec Ogletree and Kareem Martin.
The moves free $13.05 million in cap space, per Over The Cap, while leaving a dead cap charge of only $4.6 million for 2020.
That pushes the Giants' projected available cap space from $61.9 million to $74.95 million, and this is just the beginning.
Dave Gettleman traded for Ogletree from the Rams when he first arrived, and Martin was an unsuccessful signing, as well. Ogletree's release clears the bulk of the cap space with $8.25 million in savings.
Gettleman spent the least amount of money ($46.8 million) on any NFL defense in 2019. It showed.
