Giants co-owner John Mara on Odell Beckham Jr.: 'Sometimes he goes a little too far'

If John Mara is looking for absolution for Odell Beckham Jr., he's in the right place.

The Giants co-owner was at The Vatican on Thursday and discussed, among other things presumably, his hot-headed wide receiver.

"He's a young man who is very emotional but he's basically a very good young man who does a lot of good things off the field," Mara told the Associated Press. "But he plays the game with a lot of passion and sometimes he goes a little too far."

Beckham has been in the spotlight the past two weeks after his tantrum on the sideline against Washington and a penalty for taunting against the Vikings.

Mara said Beckham going a little too far is "true with a lot of players. Unfortunately for him it seems like everybody's focused on him right now."

Mara is attending a conference on faith and sport.
