ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. _ John Mara had no comment on his kicker, Josh Brown, who will serve a one-game suspension that stems from a domestic violence charge in May 2015.
"I don't have anything to say about the Josh Brown thing," the Giants co-owner said when reporters approached him following Saturday's preseason loss to the Bills. "I know that's what you want to ask me about. Check with me again next week, but I don't have anything to say right now."
Why next week?
"I don't know. Maybe I'll change my mind."
It wasn't clear if he meant he might decide to address the topic publicly or if he is reconsidering the team's decision to re-sign Brown this offseason. Mara is undoubtedly uncomfortable with the Giants being sullied over the situation, even though the organization insists it had all the available facts in hand when it inked Brown to the two-year deal this offseason and was aware of the charges against him when he played for them in 2015.
The rest of the Giants were mum on the subject. Brown and general manager Jerry Reese declined to comment. Ben McAdoo sidestepped questions on the topic and said he stood by his comments from Thursday.
Even linebacker Mark Herzlich, who has been outspoken in his disgust for domestic violence, had nothing to say.
"I'm not really talking about that, sorry," he said.
When it was pointed out how passionate he normally is about domestic violence, he said: "I know. Sorry."
