Giants’ Brian Daboll glad Kenny Golladay is upset with role

New York Giants wide receiver Kenny Golladay vented his frustration over a reduced role on Wednesday, even refusing to rule out a potential trade request if things don’t change.

“I’m not going to get into all of that right now,” Golladay said. “We’re going to see how it goes. . . I came here to play.

“They’re also paying me to play. They want to see more I guess or whatever situation on their end. I keep doing what I got to do as far as just coming in each day.”

The veteran said he was frustrated and “confused” over the situation, noting that coaches constantly reaffirm that he’s doing the right things.

“I’m preparing like I’m going to be playing, but who knows,” Golladay said. “The GM, head coach and all these coaches keep saying, ‘you do everything right, you handle yourself the right way.’ Like I said, it’s a little confusing.”

Following Golladay’s comments, he met with head coach Brian Daboll and the two discussed things. And while neither will make public what was said, Daboll is pleased with Golladay’s frustration because it shows a competitive edge.

Meanwhile, offensive coordinator Mike Kafka expertly skirted the souring situation with Golladay, instead opting to repeat the very thing that has caused the receiver frustration.

The Giants haven’t given any indication into what Golladay’s role will look like in Week 3, but it’s safe to assume he will see more than two offensive snaps.

In the mean time, the Giants continue to hope that his frustration will turn into motivation and that his effort in practice gets turned up a notch.
