Giants’ Blake Martinez, Darnay Holmes expected to play vs. Ravens

The New York Giants received some positive injury news on Saturday with word that quarterback Daniel Jones (hamstring/ankle) would return in Week 16 against the Baltimore Ravens.

As it turns out however, Jones is not the only player the Giants will get back on Sunday.

Rookie cornerback Darnay Holmes, who missed the past two games with a knee injury that many feared was season-ending, is also expected to return against the Ravens.

Meanwhile, linebacker Blake Martinez, who was a late-week addition to the injury report after suffering an ankle injury in practice, will assume his starting role in Week 16.

With cornerback James Bradberry back from Reserve/COVID-19 and both Holmes and Martinez taking the field, the Giants defense is nearly at full strength. They are still missing linebacker Kyler Fackrell (calf), who was designated to return from injured reserve this week but not activated in time to play against the Ravens.

On the offensive side of the ball running back Devonta Freeman (ankle) remains sidelined as well. He, too, was not activated by Saturday’s 4:00 p.m. ET deadline.
